Availability & Selection

Choosing your African Grey

How can I see which African Grey parrots are currently available?

Visit the Available African Greys page. Each live listing should show the bird's profile, price, sex where known, key personality traits and current availability status.

Can I choose between a Congo African Grey and a Timneh African Grey?

Yes, when both types are available. Review each individual profile carefully because temperament, socialisation and suitability matter more than choosing by appearance alone.

Can I request a male or female African Grey?

Where sex information is available, it will be stated on the bird's profile. Current inventory determines which choices are possible.

Are the African Greys captive bred?

Grey Crown Aviary presents its available parrots as captive bred and responsibly raised. Review the specific profile and contact the aviary if you need additional documentation or confirmation.

Can I place a parrot on hold?

A hold is only confirmed after Grey Crown Aviary reviews the request and provides written confirmation. Adding a bird to your cart does not by itself guarantee that the bird has been reserved.

02

Orders & Payment

From reservation to confirmation

How do I reserve or purchase an African Grey?

Select an available parrot, use the Add to Cart or enquiry option, provide your contact and delivery details, and submit the order. Grey Crown Aviary will then verify availability and send the applicable payment instructions.

Are the prices shown on the website final?

The listed price normally represents the bird's purchase price. Delivery, permits, customs, veterinary costs, taxes and destination-specific expenses may be separate unless explicitly included in writing.

Which payment methods are available?

Payment options may include Zelle, Cash App, Apple Pay, bank transfer, Venmo, Chime and card payment. The aviary will confirm the method available for your particular order before payment is made.

Should I send payment before receiving confirmation?

No. Wait until Grey Crown Aviary has confirmed the bird's availability, reviewed the order details and sent the correct payment instructions.

Will I receive an order confirmation?

After you submit your order information, Grey Crown Aviary should contact you using the email address or telephone number provided. Keep all confirmations, receipts and written instructions for your records.

Can an order be cancelled?

Cancellation eligibility can depend on whether payment has been made, delivery arrangements have begun, permits have been processed or the bird has been reserved. The final cancellation policy will be stated in the website's Terms & Conditions.

Shipping & Delivery

Safe delivery within and beyond the United States

Does Grey Crown Aviary deliver worldwide?

Grey Crown Aviary offers domestic and international delivery where lawful and practical. Every route depends on carrier availability, animal-welfare requirements, permits, customs rules and the destination's import regulations.

How is delivery arranged?

The aviary reviews the destination, confirms the proposed route, explains required documentation and coordinates delivery after the bird, customer and destination are ready.

How long does delivery take?

Timing varies by destination, carrier schedule, weather, permits and customs processing. Grey Crown Aviary should provide an estimated timeframe after the destination details have been reviewed.

Will I receive tracking or delivery updates?

Where tracking or scheduled handover information is available, it should be provided before dispatch. Customers must remain reachable throughout the delivery period.

Who is responsible for permits and import requirements?

Responsibilities vary by destination. The customer may need to obtain or pay for permits, customs clearance, local inspections or other requirements. Do not assume that every cost or legal requirement is included in the delivery fee.

What should I do when the bird arrives?

Inspect the carrier, move the bird to a calm prepared space, offer the recommended food and water, limit unnecessary handling, keep all delivery records and arrange the required veterinary examination within 48 hours.

Health Guarantee

Understanding your health protection

How long is the health guarantee?

The formal health guarantee lasts seven calendar days beginning on the date the African Grey is delivered or collected by the customer or an authorised recipient.

Is a veterinary examination required?

Yes. To preserve eligibility, the bird must be examined by a licensed avian or exotic-animal veterinarian within 48 hours of delivery.

Who pays for the veterinary examination?

The customer is responsible for arranging and paying for the examination unless Grey Crown Aviary agrees otherwise in writing or applicable law requires a different arrangement.

What if my African Grey arrives seriously unwell?

Notify Grey Crown Aviary immediately, seek prompt veterinary attention and provide the requested written veterinary report, photographs, delivery records and other reasonable supporting information.

What if the bird arrives deceased?

Contact Grey Crown Aviary immediately, preserve the relevant packaging and records, and follow the documentation instructions. A veterinary or necropsy report may be requested where reasonable and legally permitted.

What remedy is available for a valid claim?

After reviewing a complete and valid claim, Grey Crown Aviary may issue a refund of the affected bird's purchase price or provide a replacement African Grey of the same or comparable value, subject to availability and applicable law.

Does the 30-day limitation mean the guarantee lasts 30 days?

No. The health guarantee lasts seven days. The separate 30-day clause is an outer limitation of voluntary liability and does not create coverage from day eight through day 30.

Care & Preparation

Preparing a safe and enriching home

What should I buy before my African Grey arrives?

Prepare a secure appropriately sized cage, safe perches, food and water bowls, familiar food, suitable toys, cleaning supplies, a travel carrier and a calm location away from smoke, fumes, drafts and excessive activity.

What should an African Grey eat?

A balanced diet generally combines a suitable formulated food with appropriate fresh vegetables and other safe foods. Follow the transition diet supplied with the bird and avoid sudden changes.

How much attention does an African Grey need?

African Greys are intelligent and social. They need daily interaction, predictable routines, enrichment, appropriate out-of-cage time and opportunities to forage, learn and rest.

Are African Greys suitable for first-time bird owners?

They can be suitable for a highly prepared and committed first-time owner, but their intelligence, lifespan, sensitivity and care needs make careful research essential.

How should I introduce the bird to its new home?

Keep the first days calm and predictable. Use familiar food, avoid forcing contact, allow the bird to observe its surroundings and build trust gradually.

Where can I learn more about African Grey care?

Visit the Grey Crown Aviary Care Guides for practical information about housing, nutrition, enrichment, behaviour and health preparation.
